Job Overview:
The Volunteer Coordinator at Rise Above Violence will play a key role in both providing victim advocacy and support to survivors of domestic and sexual violence, while cultivating a dedicated team of volunteer advocates. The ideal candidate is passionate about social justice, thrives in diverse environments, and demonstrates the ability to manage multiple priorities while responding quickly to client needs. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills are essential to succeed in this dynamic and meaningful role.
ADVOCACY/CLIENT CARE
- Provide day-to-day advocacy and case management to clients
- Complete assessments and intakes – managing related documentation with accuracy and timeliness
- Advocate with other agencies on behalf of clients
- Assist in the completion of public benefits, housing and other applications as needed
- Provide immediate support via hotline or on-scene advocacy during on-call shifts when schedule
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT SUPPORT
- Accurately complete client paperwork and compile reports as needed
- Document and communicate all pertinent information/issues with advocacy team
- Attend staff and other required meetings
- Participate in regular supervision with the Director of Advocacy to promote the provision of quality services
- Other duties as assigned
VOLUNTEER COORDINATION
- Develop, promote and maintain a team of qualified volunteer victim advocates
- Recruit, screen, interview and train new volunteers
- Provide monthly continuing education and training for current volunteers
- Provide support and consultation for volunteers as needed or requested
- Develop and manage volunteer policies, procedures and guidelines for volunteer service, ensuring the integrity of Rise is consistently maintained in all volunteer responses and activities
Minimum Qualifications:
Oral and written fluency in English
High school diploma required
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, human services, social work or related field (preferred)
Previous work experience in family violence or sexual assault (preferred)
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Passionate about the mission and philosophy of Rise
Team oriented and believes in a strengths-based approach to providing trauma-informed services
Current driver’s license and reliable transportation with up to date insurance
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other computer software
Bilingual, specifically Spanish-speaking individuals, are strongly encouraged to apply.
Job Type: Part-time, 32 hours per week
