HB 25 -1188 Mandatory Reporting for Confidential Community-Based Advocates: Advocate Supervisors and Managers

Description:

Join us for an important conversation on how to support confidential, community-based advocates in Colorado as we navigate the implications of HB25-1188 and the Mandatory Reporting Taskforce Recommendations.

We’ll explore:

  • The legal obligations and potential consequences for agencies working with survivors
  • How these changes may impact survivor confidentiality
  • Strategies for maintaining strong, trauma-informed partnerships with community allies

This session is designed to provide practical insights and foster discussion around sustaining survivor-centered, community-driven advocacy in a shifting legal landscape.

Presenter:

Gina Lopez, Systems Response Program Director, Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault – Gina is a member and resident of the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe in Towaoc, Colorado. She was instrumental in launching the Tribe’s first-ever support services program, providing direct services to survivors and leading local prevention efforts. In 2018, Gina joined the Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault (CCASA) programs team, where she continues to provide statewide training and technical assistance to sexual assault advocacy programs. Most recently, in 2023, she served as a representative for sexual assault programs across Colorado on the state’s Mandatory Reporting Taskforce.

This project was supported by Subgrant No. 2024-VW-25-582-00 awarded by the state administering office for the Office on Violence Against Women, U.S. Department of Justice’s STOP Formula Grant Program.
