Director of Advocacy

General Description: The Director of Advocacy is responsible for the overall management, planning and implementation of all advocacy programming; including operations, case management, evaluation, outreach, training, recruitment, and management of direct victim service staff.  This position serves as the primary facilitator for coordinated community response efforts, including the Domestic Violence Response Team, Sexual Assault Response Team, and High Risk Team meetings. And finally, assist with the further strengthening of a Forensic Nurse Examiner Program.  This position reports to the Executive Director.

Duties and Responsibilities (non-inclusive):

A. Principle Advocate

·        Sets guidelines for excellence in advocacy of self and team;

·        Leadership and support of all direct victim services staff and programs;

·        Identify program development opportunities in accordance with agency’s mission, strategic plan, and best practices;

·        Provide advocacy and services to clients, and act as backup support for staff advocates;

·        Provide immediate support via hotline or on-scene advocacy during on-call shifts when scheduled;

·        Maintain complete client files, including appropriate documentation and information for statistical and case-tracking purposes;

B.  Facilitator of Coordinated Community Response Teams

·        Serve as the coordinated community response team facilitator for both the Domestic Violence Response Team and Sexual Assault Response Team;

·        Initiate, convene, and facilitate High Risk Team meetings to address cases involving elevated danger to victims;

·        Coordinate multi-agency collaboration and communication among law enforcement, courts, prosecution, healthcare, social services, and other allied professionals;

·        Develop and maintain protocols for coordinated community response efforts in accordance with best practices;

C.  Forensic Nurse Examiner Program

Coordinate duties with healthcare professionals to further develop a Forensic Nurse Examiner Program in Archuleta County

D.  Other Responsibilities

·        Ensure all grant-related data are collected and reported in an accurate, comprehensive, and timely fashion;

·        Maintain excellent staff-supervisor relations;

·        Attend monthly staff meetings;

·        Participation in fund-raising events;

·        Report to the Executive Director regularly, providing updates on current issues and operations of staff, program services and other job duties;

·        Complete any other duties assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

•       Oral and written fluency in English

•       High school diploma

•       Bachelor’s degree in psychology, human services, social work or related field required.  Equitable experience considered.

•       Previous work experience in domestic violence or sexual assault (preferred)

•       Supervisory experience (preferred)

•       Experience with multi-agency coordination and facilitation (preferred)

•       Excellent oral and written communication skills

•       Passionate about the mission and philosophy of Rise

•       Team oriented and believes in a strengths-based approach to providing leadership within the team

•       Current driver’s license and reliable transportation with up-to-date insurance

•       Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other computer software
