Updated Colorado Housing Protections for Victim-Survivors
Webinar
Thursday, November 13, 2025
10:00 – 11:30 am
This past legislative session, HB 25-1168 expanded the housing rights of tenants who have experienced gender-based violence. This new Colorado law gives survivors stronger rights and safeguards when it comes to housing, privacy, and safety. In this webinar, Ariane Frosh, Housing Attorney and Gender Advocacy in Housing Initiative Lead at the Colorado Poverty Law Project, will explain these new rights and how they apply in the eviction and landlord/tenant spaces.
Ariane will walk through what the law means for tenants who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, unlawful sexual behavior, or stalking, including:
- New ways to show proof of victimization
- Options for rent repayment plans
- How to keep court records private
- The right to end a lease early without penalty
- Limits on debt collection and landlord fees
- Steps tenants can take to stay safe, like changing locks
- What to do if these rights are violated
